Hyderabad: The court on Monday imposed fines and service punishment on five women arrested for obstructing tourist and pedestrian movement near Charminar and Mecca Masjid.
Charminar police said the women, petty vendors selling artificial flowers, repeatedly caused obstruction on the stretch from Gulzar House to Charminar despite warnings. “The road is a dedicated pedestrian zone for visitors to these heritage sites,” SHO T. Rambabu said.
The accused — Anju Singh, 19, Sabi Devi, 38, Manu Devi, 43, Manisha, 20 Shakuntala, 36 — natives of Alwar, Rajasthan, and residing at Meerpet, were arrested on Sunday. They were booked under Section 66‑C of the CP Act and Section 292 of the BNS and produced before the 1st Special Judicial Magistrate Court.
The court convicted them, imposing a fine of ₹200 each and ordering them to perform social service at Charminar police station until 5 pm on Monday.
