CEO Orders Rejection Of Bulk Form-7s
Telangana CEO C. Sudharshan Reddy ordered rejection of bulk Form-7 applications and action against those found knowingly filing false declarations.
Form‑7 applications that were found to be submitted in bulk in Goshamahal and Musheerabad Assembly constituencies will be rejected. The statement was issued by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudharshan Reddy on Monday.
In Musheerabad and Bahadurpura constituencies, 15 pre‑printed Form‑7 applications seeking deletion of Muslim names from voter lists surfaced in Goshamahal constituency. Following this, CEO C. Sudharshan Reddy issued orders for action against individuals submitting them.
In a letter, municipal commissioners and collectors were instructed by the CEO that instances of filing bulk applications in Form‑7 had come to notice. Following this, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) were directed to take action against applicants who knowingly made false statements or declarations in writing in Form‑6, 6A, 7 and 8, as per the provisions of Section 31 of the Representation of People Act, 1950.
The issue came to light after the local booth‑level officer (BLO) refused to accept the forms allegedly submitted by a BJP booth‑level agent (BLA). This incident was also shared by social media handles of people from other states. Congress leaders from Telangana lodged a complaint with the CEO and Hyderabad District Electoral Officer (DEO) R. V. Karnan seeking an inquiry.
