Centre Ready To Help Second Phase Of Metro Rail Project, Says Kishan Reddy
We will do politics only during elections: Kishan Reddy
Hyderabad: The Centre was ready to extend support to the state government if it submitted for consideration a detailed project report (DPR) of the Metro Rail Phase-2 project, Telangana BJP president and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy here on Saturday.
Speaking after inaugurating GLSR reservoir to meet the drinking water requirements of 1.2 lakh people in 52 colonies in Rahmathnagar and Borabanda divisions, Kishan Reddy said: “We do politics only during the elections. After that, we move forward with the Congress, which is in power in the state, for the development of Telangana. We will continue this tradition.”
The Centre was necessary support for the development of Hyderabad and Telangana, he said. Kishan Reddy recalled several agitations were organized demanding the state government to complete GLSR reservoir keeping in mind the drinking water necessity of the people of Borabanda, Rahamatnagar and other colonies.
The reservoir was built in an area of about 1,716 square yards and is fed by the existing six-million-litre Borabanda reservoir. The project costs Rs. 5.7 crore and the reservoir has a capacity of 3 million litres and stands 9.5 metres tall.
Until now the residents of the area were receiving drinking water only once in three days mostly during late night hours. With this new facility, water will now be supplied on alternate days.
“This is a permanent solution to the drinking water crisis in the area. We are taking steps for the city’s development and drinking water supply is a top priority,” said minister Ponnam Prabhakar. He also said that in 2015, there were only 8 lakh water connections in the city which has now increased to 13.8 lakh water connections extending up to the Outer Ring Road.
