Centre Forms Committee to Solve Telangana- AP Water Disputes

Ministry of Jal Shakti constitutes expert panel to study water management issues and suggest equitable solutions

Hyderabad: The Union Ministry of Jal Shakti has constituted a high-level committee to examine and address water-related issues between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The decision follows a meeting held on July 16, 2025, between the Union Minister for Jal Shakti and the Chief Ministers of both states.

According to an Office Memorandum issued by the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, the committee has been formed with the approval of the Secretary, Ministry of Jal Shakti. The Chairman of the Central Water Commission (CWC), New Delhi, will head the committee.
The panel includes senior officials and experts from the water resources departments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, representatives from the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB), Godavari River Management Board (GRMB), National Water Development Agency (NWDA), and the Central Water Commission.
The committee’s mandate is to examine key water management issues in a comprehensive and technical manner, address outstanding concerns, and suggest viable solutions to ensure equitable and efficient sharing of water between the two states. The committee has been asked to submit its report within three months of the issuance of the order.
