Centre Expedites Reconciliation of Expenditure on Common Institutions in Telangana, AP
Union Home Secretary has also written to Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG) for expediting the reconciliation process
Hyderabad: The Central government has expedited the process of reconciliation of expenditure on Common Institutions to facilitate finalization of accounts between the two States by the Accountant Generals (AGs) of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Union Home Secretary has also written to Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG) on 25.06.2025 for expediting the reconciliation of expenditure on Common Institutions to facilitate finalization of accounts between the two States by the AGs of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
This was stated by the Union Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary, while replying to a question raised by Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy in Lok Sabha on Monday. Reddy sought to know whether Telangana government has sent any request to the Central government to expedite the reimbursement of Rs. 408.49 crore payable to the State government of Telangana along with applicable interest. He also wanted to know the action taken by the government in this regard.
In reply, the Union Minister said that the Telangana government vide letter no. 6/IST CELL/Fin./2022, dated July 5, 2022 has requested reimbursement of Rs.408.48 crore from the Andhra Pradesh government regarding expenditure incurred on constitutional and statutory bodies such as the High Court, Raj Bhavan, and other common institutions that served both the States.
In a meeting held on February 3, 2025, both the State governments were requested to reconcile the expenditure on common institutions with the Principal Accountant Generals (AGs) of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The Union Home Secretary has also written to the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG) to expedite the reconciliation process.
