Centre Assures Telangana Of Adequate Fertiliser For Kharif 2026

HYDERABAD: Union minister of state for fertilisers Anupriya Patel told Parliament that Telangana had been provided with sufficient stock of fertilisers for the ongoing Kharif 2026 season.

In a written reply in Lok Sabha to a question by Medak BJP MP M. Raghunandan Rao on Thursday, Patel stated that the availability of fertilisers in the state has remained adequate during the period from April 1 to July 26.

The Union department of agriculture, in consultation with state governments, assesses month-wise and state-wise fertiliser requirements before each cropping season.

On this basis, the department of fertilisers allocated adequate quantities and continuously monitored availability through the online Integrated Fertilizer Management System (iFMS). Patel said Telangana's fertiliser availability exceeded requirements for all major categories during Kharif 2026

On a query regarding expansion of the Ramagundam Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited (RFCL) plant, the minister clarified that there was no such proposal under consideration. She explained that urea produced at RFCL, like output from all indigenous manufacturing plants, was pooled at the national level and allocated to states based on assessed requirements to ensure equitable distribution across the country.

The minister outlined steps taken to ensure timely fertiliser supply, including regular coordination with the railway ministry for priority movement of fertiliser rakes, and advising state governments to coordinate with manufacturers and importers for timely placement of indents. Distribution within the state at district level remained the responsibility of the state government concerned, she said.
