Cement Bags Stored Inside Ancient Temple

 Warangal: Cement bags and other construction material are being stored inside the Veerabhadra Swamy temple atop Mettuguda near Kazipet, with devotees alleging neglect of the historic shrine.

The temple is located in the premises of the Sri Metta Ramalingeswara Swamy temple on Mettuguda. With no idol currently installed in the shrine, the structure is reportedly being used to store construction material.

Cement bags and other materials were found stacked inside the temple.

Mettuguda attracts a large number of devotees every day, with the Sri Ramalingeswara Swamy temple being a prominent religious centre in the region. Devotees said the condition of the Veerabhadra Swamy temple was a matter of concern and called for its preservation.

The shrine, they said, bore traces of an old architectural tradition and should be protected as part of the area's heritage. They urged the authorities to remove the construction material and take steps to protect the walls and structure from further damage.

“Instead of allowing a historic temple to be used as a storeroom, steps should be taken to restore and preserve it,” the devotees said.

Locals said the Devasthanam and concerned officials had a responsibility to protect historic structures from neglect and urged them to inspect the temple and initiate conservation measures.
