Celebrations Erupt After Arrest of Challur Panchayat Secretary in Bribe Case

 Hyderabad: Celebrations erupted at the gram panchayat office at Challur in Karimnagar district on Friday following the arrest of grade one panchayat secretary K. Nagaraju in a bribe case. Villagers burst firecrackers near the panchayat office on receiving information that Nagaraju was arrested by the ACB.

The ACB nabbed Nagaraju, when he demanded and accepted an amount of Rs 20,000 as a bribe from the complainant for showing official favour for allotting a house number to the complainant's newly constructed house.

The tainted bribe amount was recovered from the possession of Nagaraju. The details of the complainant were withheld for security reasons, according to a statement.
