CDR Helps Cyberabad Police To Nab Accused Wanted In POCSO Case

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police on Wednesday arrested a 23-year-old person, who was absconding since April 2023 after eloping with a minor girl and raping her in a house in Visakhapatnam.
The accused was giving the slip to police by changing his locations in Visakhapatnam, Odisha and other places from April 2023 but the police succeeded in nabbing him by maintaining a continuous surveillance and a detailed analysis of call data record (CDR), Balanagar Deputy Commissioner of Police, K. Suresh Kumar said while addressing a press conference here.
According to Kumar, the police received a complaint from the girl’s father stating that the accused, a centering worker, engaged his daughter in casual conversations while playing outside, and gradually gained her trust.
He began complimenting her and discussing plans to go out together. With the help of a neighbor, he used to convey messages and facilitate phone calls between them. Manipulating the victim, he convinced her to elope, suggesting she get money from her home to enjoy the summer holidays.
The accused visited the girl’s house and instructed her to leave home at 1am with cash, clothes, and her mother’s phone. Following his instructions, the girl packed her school bag, took Rs.30,000 from her mother’s box, and left at the scheduled time.
At 2 am on April 22, 2023, he messaged her, luring her out, and took her to Secunderabad railway station, where they boarded a train to Visakhapatnam. In Visakhapatnam, he took her to an acquaintance’s house.
For two days, he confined her and raped her twice, causing physical injuries. After a week, they returned to Secunderabad by train. At the station, the accused asked her to wait to get water but escaped from the station premises and since then he remained untraceable.
The victim borrowed a stranger’s phone at the station and called her father, who immediately rescued her and later reported the incident to the police.
