CBI Arrests 2 ESIC Officials in Bribery Case in Vijayawada

On 20 November, both accused allegedly visited the complainant’s residence and served a notice for attachment of his house.

The CBI laid a trap and caught the Social Security Officer red-handed while accepting the bribe.

Hyderabad:The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Revenue Recovery Officer (RRO) K. Sai Kumar and Social Security Officer (SSO) A. Ravi Kumar of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) in Vijayawada for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of `50,000 from a complainant.

The CBI registered the case on 25 November 2025 against the two officials. According to the complaint, the complainant had started a proprietorship firm in 2020 to participate in FCI tenders and had registered it with the ESIC. However, due to technical issues, the firm was debarred by the FCI for three years.

On 20 November, both accused allegedly visited the complainant’s residence and served a notice for attachment of his house. The SSO allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 — Rs30,000 for the RRO and `Rs 20,000 for himself — to defer the attachment and auction proceedings until 31 December 2025.

The CBI laid a trap and caught the Social Security Officer red-handed while accepting the bribe. Both officials were subsequently arrested and will be produced before the Special Judge for CBI cases in Vijayawada. Searches are under way.
