Case Booked Over Illegal Waqf Land Encroachment

Hyderabad: The Pahadishareef police registered a case against alleged illegal encroachment and unauthorised construction on Waqf land belonging to Dargah Hazrath Baba Sharfuddin at Mamidipally.

Acting on a complaint from Telangana Waqf Board inspector Mohd Khader Mohiuddin, police found that 100 square yards of Waqf land had been illegally occupied on the hilltop and construction activity was underway.

The inspector alleged that two individuals, Zeeshan and Rafeeq Shaik, were carrying out illegal constructions by breaking boulders on survey No.96 of Mamidipally village, part of the notified Waqf property. He also alleged that certain anti‑social elements collected money from the encroacher and were actively supporting the activity.

A Pahadishareef police officer told Deccan Chronicle that preliminary investigation confirmed the encroachment. “We have registered the FIR and investigation is underway,” he said.

Waqf activist Habeebuddin said a total of 2,131 acres of Waqf land belonging to Dargah Baba Sharfuddin Pahadi has been subject to open encroachments for several years. Despite this, he alleged, no action has been taken by the Waqf Board.
