Candidates Waiting For Party B Forms Doubt Credibility Of Surveys In Congress
Several Congress leaders who filed nominations and are waiting for the party B Forms expressed their anger against the survey results in Adilabad municipality, which has a total of 49 wards: Reports
ADILABAD: Several leaders aspiring for Congress party tickets allege that the party’s surveys were merely an eyewash and have been manipulated in favour of the “already decided” nominees, to enable them gain an edge over their competitors.
Several Congress leaders who filed nominations and are waiting for the party B Forms expressed their anger against the survey results in Adilabad municipality, which has a total of 49 wards.
An allegation is that a senior Congress leader of Adilabad assembly constituency, who wanted to show his influence, asked his nine supporters to file nominations as independent candidates in case they do not get the party’s B Form.
Reportedly, a re-survey was conducted on Sunday in four wards to decide the party candidates for the Adilabad municipality. But, it is not clear who conducted the surveys, their expertise and the real intention.
A source said a group of senior leaders were surveyed by these teams in an unscientific manner to impress the leaders that they had conducted a survey, and Party B Forms would be given based on the survey results.
Some senior leaders are said to be visiting select colonies and interacting with a few residents, inquiring about the winning prospects of candidates of their interest, and are projecting such efforts as surveys.
Questions are raised on the credibility of such surveys being done in the wake of the municipal elections. Leaders are questioning why the party's top leadership is not maintaining transparency in conducting surveys. For ward 42, a new name appeared at the top in the survey while a strong candidate who lost the last elections with below 15 votes did not find a place in the survey.
Some leaders are promoting their supporters as “strong” candidates with the help of manipulated survey results while deliberately downplaying the strong candidates, causing huge damage to the party's interests, it is said.
Allegations are that a senior Congress leader is creating confusion by sharing with the party leadership some sketchy details of contesting candidates and keeping the other leaders at a disadvantage in the Adilabad assembly constituency.
