Hyderabad:Outrage against the terrorists attack on tourists at Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir pours in across India, including all sections of Telugu-speaking states.

Shocked and furious at the Pahalgam incident where more than two dozen tourists were killed and several others left wounded by the terrorists, several people have a feel of insecurity to visit the valley and called for sincere and stringent efforts from the Indian government to ensure such incidents do not recur.

Vinod Rao Banja, the brother of 26/11 terror victim Vijay Rao Banja, says the Pahalgam incident was extremely shocking and he calls for united efforts from the peace loving world community and the strong world leaders to take stringent measures to root out the terror menace altogether so that the future generations live in peace.

“Horrifying. My heart goes out to the families of those who have lost lives of their dear ones. Having experienced first hand in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, loosing somebody to bullets of animals without an iota of feeling towards innocent picnicers who had no bones to pick with them, gives goosebumps. When these kind of incidents happen, those old times (26/11 horror) relives all over again,” says Vinod Rao Banja.

The insecurity feeling pops up again among the people whenever terror attacks recur. Banja says the terrorism is chosen by cowards and not the brave.

“This feeling of insecurity not knowing who or why or when you may be killed in a supposedly modern world is a dastardly act perpetrated by cowards, who think they have power because they are armed. If they really have spunk let them join an army and fight like soldiers,” says Vinod Rao Banja.

He says the world leaders should come together to end this menace once for all.

“The need of the hour is not just India but the entire world and their leaders must make a concentrated effort to root out those who initiate such cowardly acts. In fact, the moment they are identified and located they must be eliminated. Those in power who willfully shelter and propagate terrorism should be taken to task without much ado,” says Banja.

“The immediate need of the hour is to realise the many lacunae that exist in our security and address them at their merit. We also need to place efficient people to head the security agencies to find loopholes and plug them to avoid recurrence of terror incidents,” he added.

Dr Parveen Sultana of Secunderabad says taking away lives cannot be justified in any instance as it is not only a cowardly and inhumane act but a senseless act of violence.

“Zero tolerance towards such violence should be adopted and we need to work collaboratively to ensure such ghastly incidents do not happen again. Concerted efforts are needed to ensure justice to the innocent tourists who lost their lives for no reason,” Dr Parveen Sultana said.

Shaik Mahaboob Basha, assistant director (official language), EPFO, Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, says an efficient intelligence system can curb terror incidents.

“We need to take concrete steps to ensure that such terror attacks should not be repeated. The intelligence system needs to be strengthened. More focus should be on border security. Stingest action should be taken against Pakistan from where the terror-backed groups are entering India and creating mayhem on our soil, by breaking all kinds of relations with them. If needed, we should be prepared for war with them,” says Basha.

He said national feeling should be strengthened to successfully fight the outsiders.

“Taking advantage of this incident, a disgusting attempt is being made to create animosity between Hindus and Muslims. This has to be foiled. We are all one. First we are Indians, then only Hindus and Muslims… this feeling should be nurtured. When we countrymen are united, we can successfully stop the evil forces from outside,” Basha added.

G. Damayanti, a government employee, says those in power should take responsibility for the safety of their people.

“Safety of people is very important and proper security measures should be provided at sensitive and public places. The border security needs to be strengthened to avoid infiltration,” Damayanti said.

She says India should make the world realise the terror affects on humanity and support our nation in fight against terrorism.

“This has been a regular feature since Independence. The issue is massive enough to be highlighted internationally to get the world united to root out terrorism across the globe,” she added.

“The need for a proper and effective communication system is the need of the day to avoid terror incidents,” Damayanti said.

Ram Vemireddy, founder & CEO of Varcas Automobiles Pvt Limited, says violence and terror in any form should have no place in the civilised society.

“This senseless violence and terror is a reminder of the need for unity, compassion and an unwavering stand against terror,” he said.

Ram says several practical and strategic steps can significantly reduce the risk of similar attacks, especially in vulnerable regions.

“Real-time intelligence sharing, increased use of technology like drones, AI-powered surveillance and satellite tracking to monitor sensitive zones will help the administration to have a check and avoid violent and terror incidents,” Ram said.

He also advocates few measures to effectively deal with terror activities. “Encouraging local cooperation with law enforcement by building trust, launch of community policing programmes and rewards for information on suspicious activities, establishing tourist protection forces with trained personnel, equipping popular destinations with emergency response protocols, safe zones and live security feeds, reviewing and tightening border security, especially near LOC areas where infiltration is likely, enforcing zero-tolerance policies towards extremist funding and propaganda and pushing for global action against sponsors of terrorism through diplomatic and trade channels will help the nation effectively avoid horrific incidents,’ added Ram.
