BRS Yet Again Slams Revanth's Silence On AP's Banakacharla Project

HYDERABAD: The BRS on Friday questioned the alleged silence of the Congress government over Andhra Pradesh’s proposed Godavari-Banakacharla link scheme, with senior party leader T. Harish Rao accusing Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of entering into a secret deal with AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on the issue.
Addressing a press meet, the former irrigation minister said AP’s insistence on going ahead with the Banakacharla project was becoming more strident. “Chandrababu’s son and minister Lokesh Naidu has now said AP will build the project. Why is the Congress government not reacting to such determination on the part of Andhra Pradesh,” he asked.
“Revanth, to Telangana’s misfortune, already declared that he is not opposed to the project because AP did not say it was building it. Now that Lokesh has said AP will build, what has Revanth got to say about it?” Harish Rao said.
“We will not allow AP to go ahead with the project, and know how to stop illegitimately obtained permissions even if AP manages to do so. And why are Congress and BJP MPs from Telangana not raising AP’s plans and holding the Centre accountable in the Parliament? The BRS, if required, will not hesitate to take the matter to the Supreme Court to protect Telangana’s interest,” Harish Rao said.
