HANUMAKONDA: The third day’s celebrations of Bathukamma, a symbol of the self-respect of Telangana women, were organised in a grand manner by women of the BRS on Monday night.
Former ministers, former MPs, former MLAs, women leaders of the party and a large number of women participated in the celebrations held on the bund of Waddepally Lake near Kazipet in Warangal city.
Former minister Satyavathi Rathod prominently took part in the celebrations. BRS Hanumakonda district president and former government chief whip Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, former MP Malothu Kavitha, former deputy speaker Padma Devender Reddy, former government whip Gongidi Sunitha, Dasyam Revathi Bhaskar and others participated in the event.
Satyavathi Rathod said Bathukamma was a symbol of Telangana’s culture, traditions and the self-respect of women. She recalled that during the previous BRS government, and the then chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had officially organised the Bathukamma festival on a grand scale across the state for nine days.
Vinay Bhaskar said the BRS was committed to protecting Telangana’s culture and traditions, irrespective of whether it was in power or in the Opposition. He criticised the Congress government, alleging that people were facing difficulties due to power cuts, burnt transformers and dried-up lakes.
Wishing that women celebrate Bathukamma with joy and enthusiasm, he extended festival greetings to all.
BRS state leaders Narlagiri Ramesh, Uduthala Sarangapani and others also participated in the programme.
