Hyderabad: The BRS party on Thursday warned any potential buyer of any portion of the 400 acres of Kancha Gachibowli land which the government plans to auction, not to do so and declared that when the party returns to power, it will reclaim every inch of the 400 acres and develop it into an eco-park.

“A decision to fight against the sale of the land, and to protect it and develop it into an ecological park on the lines of Central Park in Manhattan, US, was taken by KCR who discussed the issue threadbare with experts and others. This is a decision taken for the future generations and is also BRS’ stand,” the party working president KT Rama Rao told a news conference.
“This is not about land, or creating jobs. If the government claim is that the auction is for creating jobs, then it has 14,000 acres the past BRS government had acquired where the Congress government can build IT park or whatever else it has planned for in Kancha Gachibowli. This land, the only green lung space left in western Hyderabad, must be protected to save the environment,” Rama Rao said.
Rama Rao said students of University of Hyderabad have been waging an “extraordinary struggle” against the state government’s action on university land, and asked why Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been silent on the issue. “If the government does not reverse its stand, “BRS will march to UoH with the full force of people of Hyderabad,” he said.
He said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy “claims to work 18 hours a day. Can he not spend 10 minutes out of these to think like a human being about future generations?” He also slammed Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka for dismissing concerns about wildlife on the UoH campus, and Bhatti’s comments that images of animals in the Kancha Gachibowli land were merely “artificial intelligence-generated. And by saying so, Bhatti exposed his own ‘artificial intelligence’,” Rama Rao said.
“Why are they sending bulldozers over the people on Saturdays and Sundays? Has the government no sense, no shame, despite the High Court and Supreme Court’s directives?” he asked.
