Hyderabad: The BRS will start its organisational revamp, beginning with a membership drive, delayed by several months, once elections to the local bodies are completed. He also called for unity in the ranks.

The original plan of the party was to complete the membership drive, by forming party committees from the field level, and electing its president by November.

On Thursday, party working president K.T. Rama Rao said membership drives would begin in the coming days followed by the rest of the steps to complete the process. He said the party would hold training classes for its cadres “to expose the Congress party's anarchy, corruption, and failure to implement guarantees.”

Addressing a meeting of party leaders and workers at Telangana Bhavan after several activists from the Congress and the BJP from Kalwakurthy joined the BRS, Rama Rao called for unity as the BRS continued its fight with the government on behalf of the people.

The Congress government, he said, must be taught a lesson for cheating BCs on the promise of 42 per cent reservations. He said that in addition to all his failures, “the Chief Minister orchestrated another massive scam under the guise of the HILT policy. His focus is on looting assets starting with Musi riverfront land, followed by the Regional Ring Road (RRR) and Central University land, and he is now targeting industrial lands in Hyderabad.”

Referring to the BRS’ recent loss in the Jubilee Hills byelection, Rama Rao said even the legendary N.T. Rama Rao once lost in Kalwakurthy, adding that victory and defeat were natural in politics.
