BRS’ stir means to misguide farmers: Tummala

Bhongir: Agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Thursday alleged that BRS’ Rythu Maha Dharna at Nalgonda is meant solely for the party’s political survival.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the new committee members of the Bhongir agricultural market committee here. He announced that the government will launch Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma houses, Indiramma Atmeeya Bharosa and new ration cards on January 26.
Unable to digest the increased faith among farmers in the Congress government, BRS planned the maha dharna to misguide farmers, he asserted.
The minister highlighted that the state government waived crop loans of Rs 22,000 crore and extended Rs 500 bonus. He also claimed that money is credited into the bank accounts of farmers within three hours after the purchase. He urged the farmers to question BRS leaders why their party did not waive crop loans at one go.
He furthur accused the BRS government of mortgaging Outer Ring Road (ORR) to pay Rythu Bandhu to farmers during its tenure.
Stating that the Congress is keen on extending investment support to agriculture, he exhorted the agricultural market committees to strive for welfare and development of farmers in their areas. The agricultural market committees should encourage farmers towards alternative crops, which would increase income of cultivators, he added.
He reminded that the state government would sanction godowns on the premises of agricultural market committees for the convenience of farmers.
The government whip Beerla Ialiah, said that the Congress government believes that the development of villages would be possible only through welfare of farmers. Bhongir MLA Kumbam Anil Kumar was present among others at the event.
