BRS Shut Singareni Mines, Ruined Livelihoods Of 40,000 Workers: Ponguleti
Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy accused the previous BRS government of shutting 18 Singareni mines and pushing 40,000 workers into hardship while campaigning for the Congress graduate MLC candidate.
Revenue, housing and information and public relations minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy criticised the previous BRS government, alleging that it had shut down 18 Singareni mines and pushed 40,000 workers into hardship. He accused BRS leaders of shedding crocodile tears despite failing to save even a single mine during their 10-year tenure. He said the Congress government had participated in the auction of three mines as part of its efforts to strengthen Singareni.
He was speaking at a preparatory meeting for the Warangal–Nalgonda–Khammam Graduates’ MLC election, held in Warangal on Thursday. He called on party workers to make Congress candidate Rami Reddy Sarvotham Reddy win by a huge majority.
The minister highlighted that the Congress and CPI are strong in 32 of the 34 Assembly seats in the three districts. He called on leaders and village-level workers to work together to ensure graduates give Sarvotham Reddy their first-preference votes.
As voter registration and renewal would remain open until November 6, he asked party cadres to ensure that all eligible graduates enrolled to exercise their franchise.
He also urged party workers to publicise the welfare and development programmes being implemented by the government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He called on them to counter the political strategies of the BRS and BJP and work towards securing victory for the Congress candidate.
