Nizamabad: BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha welcomed the establishment of the National Turmeric Board but stressed that it is not the ultimate solution for the welfare of turmeric farmers. She called for a three-pronged approach that includes the immediate implementation of a Minimum Support Price (MSP) of ₹15,000, stricter import restrictions, and robust support for turmeric-based industries to ensure sustainable growth.

Kavitha along with BRS MLA V.Prashanth Reddy, former MLA Bajireddy Govardhan, mayor Dandu Neethu Kiran and other senior leaders addressed press conference in Nizamabad on Sunday. Kavitha said that when they initiated steps for the Turmeric Board, BJP MP Arvind Dharmapuri was not in politics. She said that they approached chief ministers and national political parties, where turmeric was cultivated for the board.

BRS MLC said that central government ignored other states while launching the Turmeric Board in Nizamabad. Kavitha pointed out the negative impact of cheap turmeric imports on domestic farmers, which had doubled since the BJP came to power in 2014. Imports, which stood at 8 lakh quintals in 2014, have continued to rise, creating significant challenges for local farmers.
