Hyderabad: The BRS has demanded that the Assembly Winter Session beginning on Monday, should have at least 15 working days for the House to discuss issues of public importance. Senior party leader T. Harish Rao, during an informal chat with reporters, said the Congress government has been reluctant to conduct Assembly sessions properly and in the last two years had averaged just about 20 days a year compared to 32 during the BRS’ first term in power.
Harish Rao said it appeared that the session beginning Monday is “once again designed to heap abuse on the BRS, because KCR raised important issues on the Palamuru Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme. The government must give clear answers to the questions KCR raised – was a letter written to the Centre saying 45 tmc of water is enough for the project, and why the government did not send back the detailed project report after it was returned to the state last year.”
The BRS is ready to discuss and debate any issue, be it irrigation or any other topic that the government wants to, Harish Rao said. “But the government appears to run away from facing the Opposition on people’s problems. The BRS demands that the government also include in the agenda discussions on topics of public importance such as shortage of fertilisers, Rythu Bharosa dues, the Six Guarantees of the Congress government, HILT Policy, and pending DA arrears and pay revision commission for employees,” he said.
