Hyderabad: Telangana Government Chief Whip Aadi Srinivas accused Opposition BRS and BJP leaders of deliberately wasting the time of the Legislative Assembly instead of allowing discussions on public issues.
Speaking to reporters at the Media Point in the Assembly on Thursday, Srinivas said the House had already lost three days without any meaningful debate on issues concerning the people. He alleged that both opposition parties were resorting to political tactics and creating disruptions on a platform meant to address public grievances.
"The government is ready to discuss every public issue," Srinivas asserted. "While the government is trying to hold discussions on public issues and find solutions, the two parties are conspiring and creating disturbances in the House. Three days have already been wasted," Srinivas said.
He urged the Opposition to give up its attempts at "outright politics" instead of focusing on issues that matter to the people, alleging that both parties were trying to turn the Assembly into a forum for political point-scoring rather than constructive debate.
Srinivas specifically called out the BRS, saying the party was unwilling to discuss the matter of the alleged insult to the Speaker, even though it was raising the demand for other debates.
He also accused the BJP of creating chaos in the House by insisting on a discussion over 22A and disrupting proceedings in the process.
