BRS Activist Booked For Assaulting Woman Cop

Hyderabad: Banjara Hills police on Monday registered a case for obstructing duty and causing injury against a BRS woman activist, who had manhandled a woman constable during the questioning of former chief minister and BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao by the Special Investigation Team in the phone tapping case.
According to police, BRS activist Vasantha during a scuffle at the BRS Bhavan, had twisted the fingers of P. Anusha, the police constable, while she was performing her duty. Injured constable Anusha has been undergoing treatment at a government hospital. She suffered hairline fracture in her middle finger.
“Based on MLC and Anusha’s complaint, we registered an FIR against Vasantha and others. Our teams were scanning the CCTV footage to identify other BRS activists,” a police officer said.
Anusha working with the Banjara Hills police was posted on special bandobast duty during Rao’s questioning by the SIT. She is recovering. The case was filed under section 132 and 195 of the BNS Act. Further probe is underway.
Meanwhile, during protests on Sunday, at least 20 BRS activists were taken into preventive custody and released the same night after giving personal bond, police said.
