Hyderabad: Pre-Christmas celebrations were held on a high note at the British Deputy High Commission in the city, marked by classical carols, live instrumental music, festive décor and a warm gathering of guests.
British Deputy High Commissioner for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Gareth Wynn Owen and his wife Molly Wynn Owen played gracious hosts at the event, which was attended by a select gathering comprising prominent personalities from the city. The celebrations featured a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, sparkling glasses of wine and an assortment of Christmas truffles, adding to the festive ambience.
Notable guests included Dr Nageshwar Rao of the Asian Institute of Gastroentrology, senior IPS officer A.K. Khan, and several well-known personalities from different fields. Choristers from the Shekinah Christian Assembly rendered classic Christmas carols in a traditional style. A special highlight was the rendition of carols in Hindi and Telugu, which was warmly appreciated by the hosts and guests alike.
Violinist Fanny Cross enthralled the audience with melodious carol tunes, accompanied by her sibling Paul David, adding a refined musical touch to the evening.
Extending Christmas greetings to people of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Gareth and Molly Wynn Owen interacted personally with guests throughout the evening. Reflecting on the occasion, Gareth Wynn Owen said this was his third Christmas season in the city. “I have truly enjoyed all my Christmases here. Hyderabad during this season is full of life, colours and lights, and it reminds me of the United Kingdom,” he said.
The pleasant winter chill and the open lawns further enhanced the festive spirit, making the celebration a memorable one for those present.
