Bodhan SI Trapped by ACB While Taking ₹7,000 Bribe

Officer allegedly sought money to spare youth from criminal case; arrested and produced before special ACB court

According to the release, the accused officer had initially demanded ₹10,000 from the complainant to not implicate his brother’s son in a criminal case.

Nizamabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Wednesday, caught Bodhan Town Sub-Inspector Chitannoju Bhaskara Chari red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹7,000 at the police station.

The accused officer had initially demanded ₹10,000 from the complainant to not implicate his brother’s son in a criminal case. Following negotiations, the amount was reduced to ₹7,000. Acting on a complaint, ACB officials laid a trap and apprehended the officer while accepting the bribe.

The tainted amount was recovered from his possession at his instance, confirming that he had accepted the undue advantage in return for an official favour. Authorities stated that the officer had misused his public position and performed his duties dishonestly.

The identity of the complainant has been kept confidential for security reasons. The accused officer has been arrested and produced before the II Additional Special Judge for Trial of SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally, Hyderabad. Further investigation is underway.
