Adilabad: A major fire broke out at the L&T guest house near Ambatpally (Medigadda) village in Mahadevpur mandal of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Sunday afternoon, reportedly after flames spread from nearby paddy fields where farmers were burning agricultural stubble.

The fire erupted around 3 pm and quickly spread to the L&T office, conference hall and staff quarters, reducing the structures to ashes.
Staff present at the premises initially attempted to douse the flames using fire extinguishers, but failed to control the blaze.
Officials said Bhupalpally recorded a temperature of around 45°C on the day, which may have aided the rapid spread of the fire.
The incident was reported to district authorities, following which a fire engine reached the spot and brought the blaze under control.
However, by the time firefighters arrived, office equipment and valuables in the guest house had already been gutted.
The extent of property loss is yet to be assessed.
