People will receive greater benefits from Central schemes in a more transparent manner if the BJP wins the upcoming three municipal corporation elections, the party’s Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao claimed on Friday. He pointed out that lack of proper basic infrastructure, pathetic roads, and chaotic drainage systems were causing daily hardships to city residents.

“The development of Bhagyanagar has completely stalled due to the negligence of past and present rulers,” he alleged. Rao was addressing a meeting after welcoming several educated individuals and local residents into the party at the Tarnaka division under the leadership of Madala Radhakrishna, Rao strongly criticised both the earlier BRS and the present Congress governments, saying they had turned Hyderabad from a "Vishwa Nagaram" (global city) into a "Vishada Nagaram" (city of sorrow).

Claiming that Hyderabad's development was possible only with the BJP, Rao said people were ready to elect the party with a huge majority in the upcoming civic elections.

He said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, good governance, development and welfare schemes are attracting educated people, intellectuals and common citizens to the BJP in large numbers. He draped saffron scarves on the new members, formally welcoming them into the party fold.

Elsewhere, the BJP celebrated Raksha Bandhan at the party state office under the auspices of the BJP State Women's Morcha, led by its president Dr Mekala Shilpa Reddy. Speaking at the event, Rao said Raksha Bandhan symbolised the sacred bond between brothers and sisters. He praised Modi's women empowerment initiatives for women including the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam providing 33 per cent reservation for women in legislatures. Women's Morcha leaders tied rakhis to former Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Rao, BJP MLA leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, and MLA Paidi Rakesh Reddy.
