BJP Top Leaders Slam Arrest of State Chief NRR

Hyderabad:BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday strongly condemned the arrest of Telangana state president N. Ramchander Rao, calling it an undemocratic move by the Congress government to silence opposition voices. In a post on X, Nabin said he spoke to Rao after police “unlawfully arrested him to block his visit to our Nalgonda district president, whose house was recently attacked by Congress goons.” He alleged that while Congress workers attack BJP offices and leaders’ homes, the administration remains idle, but BJP leaders visiting victims are arrested. “Rahul Gandhi’s lectures on the Constitution are a complete sham and Telangana will answer this dictatorial mindset,” he said.
Union minister for coal and mines G. Kishan Reddy also criticised the government, terming the arrests “undemocratic” and “vindictive politics” by using police as a political tool. He questioned whether BJP leaders should be placed under house arrest merely for consoling victims, pointing out that while Congress activists attacked BJP offices and leaders’ homes, no action was taken against them. “A government that should answer questions is instead arresting those who ask them,” he said.
Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar expressed anger over Rao’s arrest, asking why attackers were being protected while those consoling victims were detained. “Is this what Indiramma Rajyam means?” he asked, demanding Rao’s immediate release and warning of serious consequences if the government failed to act. He accused the Congress of misusing police machinery for political ends.
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Dr K. Laxman termed the arrest a diversion tactic by the Revanth Reddy‑led government from failed election promises. He said denying opposition parties the democratic right to question the government amounted to suppression of voices and charged that the administration was failing in its duties.
