BJP Seeks All-party Meet On Dist Rationalisation
Ramchander Rao also opposed Revanth Reddy’s proposal to auto‑debit traffic challans from citizens’ bank accounts
Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Tuesday demanded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy convene an all‑party meeting and public hearing on the state government’s district, revenue division, and mandal rationalisation before forming a judicial commission.
Speaking to the media at the state BJP office, Ramchander Rao accused former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao of rushing the earlier exercise “without rationale,” splitting Assembly segments across districts and undermining administrative accountability.
Ramchander Rao also opposed Revanth Reddy’s proposal to auto‑debit traffic challans from citizens’ bank accounts, calling it a “revenue grab” and “privacy invasion.” He argued that the state had no right to access bank accounts and urged counseling and education for drunk‑driving offenders instead of punitive fines. Citing a case where a drunk driver’s viral video led to suicide, he decried social stigma and labelled the “Gaadi Pakdo aur Sarkaari account mein paisa aayega” policy objectionable.
On interstate water disputes, Ramchander Rao ridiculed the government’s hasty writ petition against Andhra Pradesh’s Banakacharla project on Krishna waters, which was withdrawn after the Supreme Court advised filing a civil suit. He blamed poor legal advice and recalled how the Vajpayee government resolved the Cauvery issue amicably through negotiations, which he said was BJP’s preferred approach.
Reaffirming that the party would contest municipal polls solo, Ramchander Rao dismissed Congress and BRS “jealousy” over BJP’s rise and rejected attempts to link the party with either rival. He predicted a strong showing in the upcoming municipal elections, citing BJP’s performance in major gram panchayat wins as proof of its urban growth.
The state BJP chief said he enjoyed support from MPs, MLAs, and party workers, defending closed‑door MP meetings as non‑disciplinary. He also announced BJP’s backing for the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi’s ‘Chalo Balapur Rally’, which he claimed was aimed at protesting alleged Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators. He accused MIM leaders of supporting such groups and alleged that the state government was complicit.
