Hyderabad:BJP Telangana general secretary Dr Kasam Venkateshwarlu criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, accusing him of prioritising frequent visits to Delhi over the concerns of Telangana’s people. Addressing the media, he alleged that the Chief Minister had made 48 trips to Delhi in just 20 months, not for governance but to remain in the good books of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. He described Revanth’s reaction to a courtesy letter from Sonia Gandhi as an “Oscar-worthy performance.”
The BJP leader also questioned the Chief Minister’s commitment to the welfare of Backward Classes (BCs), accusing the government of failing to deliver on key promises. He cited the lack of progress on the Kama Reddy Declaration and criticised the Congress for not allocating the promised `20,000 crore annual budget for BC welfare over the last two years. The proposed ministry for BCs and development corporations for the BC sub-plan and Most Backward Classes has not materialised, he noted.
Responding to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent call for 42 per cent BC reservations, Dr Venkateshwarlu said the Congress was misleading people by including Muslims under the BC quota while granting only 32 per cent to BCs. He alleged that the party’s “Telangana as a laboratory” idea posed a threat to national unity and pandered to international interests that undermine India’s social fabric.
Calling for restraint in political discourse, he urged Congress leaders not to make derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union minister Kishan Reddy. He warned against alleged vote-bank politics, saying such strategies erode national cohesion.
