BJP MLAs Call on Governor, Raise Adivasi Patta Issue
During the meeting, the Governor assured that the matter would be brought to the attention of the state government and that efforts would be made to resolve the issue.
Hyderabad:A delegation led by BJP deputy floor leader Payal Shankar met with Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Lok Bhavan on Wednesday. They submitted a formal representation to intervene and take steps to issue house-site pattas (title deeds) to tribal families, particularly in Adilabad.
Adilabad MLA brought to the Governor’s attention that approximately 500 Adivasi families have been residing in the Komaram Bheem colony in Battisavargaon village in Mavala Mandal for nearly 30 years but lack housing pattas or recognised rights to their house sites.
He explained that, as a result, they face severe difficulties in accessing government welfare schemes and basic amenities such as electricity and safe drinking water. He requested the Governor to direct officials to conduct a comprehensive field-level inquiry and issue housing site pattas to eligible families in accordance with regulations.
During the meeting, the Governor assured that the matter would be brought to the attention of the state government and that efforts would be made to resolve the issue.
Later, briefing to media persons, Shankar said that he has already raised Adivasi issues in the Assembly on numerous occasions, yet the state government has taken no action. “If the issue is not resolved within a month, we will stage a protest at the Secretariat alongside the 2,000 families living there," he warned.
