BJP MLA Harish Babu, Ex-MLA Konappa Under House Arrest Over Pranahita Chevella Row

Adilabad: BJP MLA Palvai Harish Babu and former MLA Koneru Konappa were placed under house arrest by the police on Wednesday to prevent any untoward incidents in Kagaznagar, Komaram Bheem Asifabad district, following a heated exchange over the Pranahita Chevella project.

Supporters of both leaders had begun preparations for an open debate on the issue in the town.

Both Harish Babu and Konappa had publicly challenged each other, expressing their willingness to engage in a discussion on the Pranahita Chevella project.

Harish Babu alleged that Konappa, during his tenure as MLA, remained silent while then chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao shifted focus to the Kaleshwaram project, sidelining the proposed Pranahita Chevella project at Thummidihatti. He said Konappa has no moral right to speak about the Pranahita Chevella project now.

In response, Konappa recalled that Harish Babu’s mother, Rajyalaxmi, a former MLA herself had opposed the Pranahita Chevella project, citing potential adverse effects on local farmers.
