HYDERABAD: A BJP delegation led by former minister and party’s state Election Commission affairs committee chairman, Marri Shashidhar Reddy, submitted a representation to the State Election Commissioner, on Saturday, alleging lapses and discrepancies in the recently published draft voters’ list across multiple constituencies.

The complaint pointed out wrongful placements of voters. Electors from one ward appeared in different wards entirely. Those from one assembly constituency showed up in municipalities under another constituency.

Even voters from gram panchayats outside municipal limits were listed in neighboring municipalities. “These mix-ups were systemic and displace voters from their legitimate electoral areas,” the representation, stated.

The delegation cited specific cases from Nalgonda district. Voters from Miryalaguda assembly constituency reflected in Devarakonda municipality. Residents of Tallagadda village in Miryalaguda Assembly segment limits appeared in Devarakonda Assembly segment rolls.

Voters from Gottimukkala village, located 15-20 km away, were also misplaced. Similarly, voters from Thatikol gram Panchayat (5-10 km from Devarakonda) and Sherpalli Gram Panchayat—showed up in Devarakonda municipality.

Such errors extended to Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Adilabad, and other areas. The BJP demanded an immediate inquiry into officers responsible for alleged tampering. They called for stringent disciplinary and legal action to uphold the Commission’s credibility.

The representation urged a thorough verification and audit of the draft list. It sought directions to correct ward-wise and municipality-wise misplacements before elections. “Failure to act would deprive voters of their constitutional right and compromise electoral fairness,” it warned.

The delegation, included BJP state general secretary Dr N. Goutham Rao, state secretary Dr Tutupalli Ravi Kumar, committee member K. Anthony Reddy, and former state secretary Dr S. Prakash Reddy. They have also sent copies to the Election Commissioner of India and the Chief Electoral Officer in the state.
