Senior IAS and IPS officers, revenue officials and other government personnel have repeatedly been complicit in corruption and financial fraud across successive administrations, causing massive losses to the state exchequer, alleged N.V.S.S. Prabhakar, BJP state vice president.

Hyderabad:Senior IAS and IPS officers, revenue officials and other government personnel have repeatedly been complicit in corruption and financial fraud across successive administrations, causing massive losses to the state exchequer, alleged N.V.S.S. Prabhakar, BJP state vice president.

Talking to the press, the BJP leader said that despite political leadership changes, the state’s administrative machinery remains mired in malpractice, with top officials frequently under investigation for their roles in various scams.

He condemned the Congress government’s decision to place a national party state president under house arrest, calling it an example of fascism. Prabhakar pointed out that misuse of police power is not unique to the current dispensation but also existed during the previous BRS regime.

He stressed that the arrest of political leaders undermines democratic principles and called for urgent reforms in bureaucratic conduct. Targeting the Congress further, Prabhakar accused the party of failing on governance promises, engaging in blame games over alleged electoral fraud and ignoring embezzlement under its rule.

Highlighting delays in local body elections and other issues, Prabhakar urged the government to focus on public welfare instead of diverting attention with accusations against the Election Commission. He concluded that Telangana is witnessing a dangerous mix of political vendettas, administrative decay and democratic backsliding — all of which the BJP firmly opposes.

Power lines upgraded in Hyd slums

Hyderabad:Safety alongside uninterrupted power supply must be given top priority in the slum areas, said Musharaf Faruqui, chairman and managing director of the southern discom.

Faruqui stressed the immediate removal of such dangerous cables.

The CMD conducted a field inspection of several streets in Motinagar, Indiranagar Basti, HF Nagar Basti, and Borabanda Site-2 Basti in the Banjara Hills circle. KTR sends legal notice to Bandi Sanjay

Hyderabad:BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has served a legal notice to Union minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar for leveling “false, baseless and defamatory” remarks related to the phone-tapping controversy.

Sent through his legal counsel, the notice accused Sanjay of “irresponsible, politically motivated” comments aimed at damaging the BRS leader’s reputation “without any evidence.” The lawyers said such statements are unbecoming of a Union minister and a deliberate attempt to malign another elected representative.

The notice further alleged that Sanjay repeatedly made unfounded claims to gain political mileage and media attention, causing “serious injury” to Rama Rao’s reputation. It demanded an unconditional public apology to Rama Rao and his family, warning that failure to comply within seven days would invite civil and criminal proceedings, holding the Union minister fully liable for the damage caused.

Rama Rao’s counsel emphasised that none of the allegations made during the August 8 media interaction were supported by proof and accused Sanjay of abusing his position to launch personal attacks. They also warned that future “wild, false and malicious” statements would result in harsher legal consequences.

KABIL plays key role in mineral self-reliance: Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad:Union minister G. Kishan Reddy highlighted the crucial role of the public sector undertaking Khanij Bidesh India Limited (Kabil) in securing critical minerals from abroad. He noted that India has signed agreements with countries like Zambia and Argentina to procure lithium, a key mineral vital for clean energy technologies.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha during the passage of key amendments to the Mines and Minerals (Development & Regulation) Act, Kishan Reddy said India has made significant progress in securing critical minerals essential for its transition to renewable energy, electric mobility and advanced technology sectors. Kabil leads this effort by sourcing critical minerals from abroad, aiming to reduce India’s import dependency and strengthen supply chain resilience amid global geopolitical uncertainties.

He also emphasised the broader impact on India’s self-reliance in minerals, supported by the National Critical Mineral Mission launched in 2025, which seeks to boost domestic production and exploration activities. The legislative update further reinforces the government’s commitment to transparent mining practices, with mine allocations post-2014 now done exclusively through auctions, and social welfare initiatives like the District Mineral Foundation ensuring benefits for mining-affected communities.

The amendments aim to create a dynamic mineral market, promote zero-waste mining, and empower the central government to regulate mineral trading effectively, aligning India’s mining sector with sustainable development and global technological advancements, the minister noted.
