Hyderabad: BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao hit back at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Saturday, dismissing his criticism of the new Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar‑Aajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025 (VB GRAM G Act). Rao termed the Congress campaign against the Act “malicious,” and said the law, which replaces MGNREGA, addresses the growing needs of the rural poor by offering more workdays and jobs.

Speaking to reporters after releasing the party’s New Year diary, Rao accused the Chief Minister of spreading lies out of fear of losing polls amid rising public support for BJP policies. “People have seen bad rule from both BRS and Congress. Now these parties collude against BJP with false propaganda,” he charged.

Earlier, Rao visited the Shiva temple on Osmania University campus and offered special prayers as part of Somnath Swabhiman Parv, commemorating sacrifices made for the Somnath temple across India. He recalled the temple’s survival through foreign invasions, including Mahmud of Ghazni’s raid in 1026, and its reconstruction led by Sardar Patel after independence. The consecration took place on May 11, 1951, with President Dr. Rajendra Prasad. “Our Dharma remains unshaken,” Rao said.

At a separate ceremony at Durga Bhavani temple in Punjagutta, Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar joined special prayers for Somnath Swabhiman Parv. He said the temple represents the spiritual renaissance of modern India and that the sacrifices made in its rebuilding will inspire future generations.

State BJP president Rao also questioned the Congress government’s claims on rice distribution. He said the Modi government provides 5 kg per person through ration shops, but the Congress claimed credit for it by distributing fine rice without displaying the Prime Minister’s photograph. He demanded that PM Modi’s image be printed on all rice bags and receipts, warning of BJP protests if ignored.
