BJP Accepts Raja Singh’s Exit, Bypoll Likely
Raja Singh represents the Goshamahal constituency in the Telangana Legislative Assembly.
Hyderabad: The BJP national leadership has accepted the resignation of Goshamahal MLA T. Raja Singh, ending speculation over his future and paving the way for a bypoll in the heart of Hyderabad. The Telangana BJP is expected to forward the resignation to the Assembly Speaker, completing the formalities required for a fresh election.
In a letter to Raja Singh, BJP national general secretary Arun Singh dismissed the reasons cited by the MLA as irrelevant and incompatible with the party’s ideology, principles and functioning. Acting on the instructions of party president J.P. Nadda, Arun Singh confirmed that the resignation had been accepted with immediate effect.
Telangana BJP spokesperson Rani Rudrama said the decision was not personal. “There are no personal differences between Raja Singh and the party’s national or state leadership, or its cadre. The resignation was accepted purely on the grounds of repeated indiscipline,” she clarified.
Although Raja Singh had previously faced suspensions, this time he voluntarily submitted his resignation to the then-state party president G. Kishan Reddy, who forwarded it to the national leadership.
Reacting to the party’s decision, Raja Singh became emotional as he recalled his 11-year association with the BJP, which, he noted, began on the same date. “I joined the party to serve Hindutva and the nation. The BJP gave me the honour of serving the people by nominating me thrice,” he said.
He voiced disappointment that the sentiments of grassroots party workers, who had worked tirelessly to help the BJP form a government in Telangana, were not conveyed adequately to the central leadership.
Despite parting ways with the BJP, Raja Singh reaffirmed his ideological commitment. “I never joined the BJP for personal gain. I will continue to work with integrity and dedication for Hindutva, national unity and the protection of Sanatana Dharma,” he said.
