Bhoodan: HC Reopens Plea Against Navin Mittal
Justice K. Sujana of the High Court set aside the orders of the Additional Metropolitan Magistrate, Maheshwaram, which had dismissed the request for directions to the Maheshwaram police to register the crime against the officials for criminal conspiracy and transferring government land.
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday remanded the case of alleged illegal transfer of Bhoodan land in Survey No. 181 of Nagaram to the court of the Additional Metropolitan Magistrate, Maheshwaram, for fresh consideration. The petitioner has sought criminal action against senior IAS officer Naveen Mittal, then principal secretary, revenue, and custodian of the Bhoodan Yagna Board, as well as other officers and private persons.
Justice K. Sujana of the High Court set aside the orders of the Additional Metropolitan Magistrate, Maheshwaram, which had dismissed the request for directions to the Maheshwaram police to register the crime against the officials for criminal conspiracy and transferring government land.
The High Court orders were issued in the revision petition filed by Dastagir Shareef, represented by Asad Hussain, challenging the dismissal of his private complaint relating to the alleged illegal transfer of Bhoodan land in Survey No. 181 of Nagaram village, Maheshwaram mandal, Rangareddy district.
He sought criminal action against the then revenue authorities and EIPL Constructions’ authorised person K. Sridhar Reddy, and other officials, for allegedly permitting transactions and registration of about 50 acres of Bhoodan land in 2023 despite subsisting High Court status quo orders issued in 2006.
