Bhongir MP: KTR, Harish Trying To Revive TG Sentiment For BRS Survival

Nalgonda: Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday alleged that BRS leaders K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao were stoking Telangana sentiment purely for their party’s political survival.
Along with Bhongir MLA Kunbam Anil Kumar, he laid the foundation stone for development works, including cement concrete roads, in Ward 18 of the Bhongir municipality.
Speaking on the occasion, Kiran Kumar Reddy accused the BRS leadership of spreading falsehoods about Telangana’s share of river water and unfairly blaming the Congress government for the Banakacharla project. He noted that under the previous BRS administration, Telangana’s full entitlement of 299 TMC ft of Krishna River water was never utilised in a single year over its 10-year term. In contrast, the state government has used 280 TMC ft of Krishna water in the past year since Congress assumed power.
Kiran Kumar Reddy further criticised the earlier BRS government for sidelining irrigation projects initiated by previous Congress administrations in united Andhra Pradesh, instead prioritising the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, allegedly to benefit contractor commissions. He also charged that the BRS failed to protect Telangana’s 948 TMC ft share of Godavari water despite investing ₹2 lakh crore in irrigation.
Responding to Rama Rao’s challenge to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Chamala pointed out that the former minister lacks the status of official Leader of the Opposition and is merely one among several BRS MLAs. “Unless his father appoints him as Opposition Leader, Rama Rao has no eligibility to challenge the Chief Minister,” he asserted.
