Bhatti Urges Centre to Approve Telangana’s BC Quota Bills
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu called upon the BJP-led government at the Centre to stop doing injustice to Backward Classes.
Hyderabad:Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu called upon the BJP-led government at the Centre to stop doing injustice to Backward Classes. He demanded the Centre immediately approve the BC reservation bills passed by Assembly in March. He said that the entire state Cabinet, MLAs, and MLCs would go to Delhi on August 5 to press for the approval of these bills.
Addressing a public meeting in Tandur in Vikarabad district on Tuesday, the Deputy CM said there’s no need to panic over Indiramma housing bills. The government will pay the bills week by week, based on the amount of construction completed.
He criticised the previous BRS government for ignoring housing and declared that with the return of the Congress government, house construction has resumed rapidly. Across the state, 4.5 lakh houses are being built at a cost of ₹22,500 crore, with 3,500 houses allocated per constituency. The goal is to ensure that no poor person in the state is left homeless, he said.
Under the Gruha Jyothi scheme, the state government is providing free electricity up to 200 units. In Vikarabad district, out of 2.10 lakh power consumers, 1.57 lakh are availing free electricity – that’s 74 per cent of all consumers. The state government is paying the electricity bills on behalf of those using free power, Bhatti added.
Bhatti said the state government was committed to transforming education to a level where even private institutions cannot compete. “We take responsibility for your children,” the Deputy CM said, explaining the initiative to build Young India Integrated Residential Schools.
These are being built in 104 constituencies across the state, with each school costing ₹200 crore, spread over 25 acres. These institutions aim to be world-class, unlike the old schools that lacked infrastructure and teachers. The government sees them as game changers.
Bhatti said people in Telangana had waited for a decade ration cards. Now, under the Congress government, changes in existing cards and new card distributions have started.
Bhatti stated that women SHGs had lost access to interest-free loans over the past decade. The Congress government reinstated this system, distributing such loans once again.
He said the state government aims to make one crore women into crorepatis (millionaires). Self-Help Group (SHG) women are being helped to purchase buses and rent them to RTC for income generation. SHGs are also being encouraged to set up solar power plants to develop them into entrepreneurs, Bhatti added.
