Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday said that funds would not be a constraint for the construction of Young India Integrated Residential Schools (YIIRS), and assured that bill payments to contractors would be cleared once every 15 days. He directed district collectors to visit construction sites at least once a month and hold on-site reviews to ensure timely and quality execution.
Chairing a video conference from Praja Bhavan with Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao and district collectors, Bhatti reviewed the district-wise status of the YIIRS. Bhatti made it clear that the responsibility for completing the projects rested with the collectors.
He directed that wherever tenders had been finalised, bhumi puja should be conducted with the participation of the concerned Minister or local MLA, and a clear calendar for completion should be prepared. Weekly reviews at the district level were made mandatory, along with monthly physical inspections of construction sites by the collectors.
Bhatti directed that strict action be taken against contractors who failed to commence work within 15 days of signing agreements. In case of land-related or local administrative issues, Collectors were asked to coordinate with MLAs, the CCLA or the Chief Secretary for swift resolution.
He also ordered the appointment of a third-party agency for continuous quality monitoring and instructed quality inspection teams to conduct regular site visits. The Chief Secretary was advised to obtain weekly progress reports from all districts.
