Bhatti’s decision brings a major relief to HCU students who staged series of protests

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu here on Monday asked the police officers to immediately withdraw cases booked against the students of Hyderabad Central University (HCU) in Gachibowli here.

The decision of the Deputy Chief Minister brings a major relief to students who staged a series of protests against the State government in connection with 400-acre land in Kancha Gachibowli.

He gave instructions to the police officers during discussions conducted with the HCU Teachers Association and sub-committee members – Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy – and the members of civil society groups at the Secretariat.

He asked the police officials to immediately take steps to withdraw the cases against two students, who were now in judicial remand. He instructed the law department officials to give appropriate instructions to the police officers so that no legal problems arise in the process of withdrawing the cases.
