Bhainsa Municipal Commissioner, Bill Collector Held in Bribe Case

Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has caught Bhainsa Municipal Commissioner Venkateshwara Rao for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.30,000 for not demolishing the complainant's building constructed in 2022 in the town.

The bribe was also demanded for not to impose tax in lakhs of rupees as per the show cause notice issued to the complainant Lalasarafi Radheshyam by Rao.

Rao allegedly accepted a bribe through bill collector Vidyasagar from Radheshyam. Radheshyam constructed the house in 2022 by taking permission from the Municipal Corporation, Bhainsa. The ACB officials recovered the tainted bribe amount of Rs.30,000 from the possession of the bill collector.

ACB officials said the fingers of both hands of the bill collector yielded positive in a chemical test and added that both Rao and Vidyasagar performed their duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage. Officials produced both Rao and Vidyasagar before the special court for ACB cases after which they were remanded to judicial remand.
