Bhadradri Kothagudem Police Nabs 13 People for Involving in Cybercrimes

Hyderabad: The Bhadradri Kothagudem police on Monday arrested 13 people for their alleged involvement in various cybercrimes.

Based on a complaint received by the District Cyber Security Bureau through National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) two days ago, the Tekulapally police and District Cyber Crime Police jointly arrested 13 people from Tekulapally Government Junior College.

The arrested have been identified as Boda Sridhar, Boda Rajesh, Boda Rajanna, Banoth Jagadeesh, Tejavath Naresh, Polepongu Pavan Kalyan, Bhukya Veeranna, Jatoth Naresh, Boda Jampanna, Boda Rajaram, Bhukya Praveen, Maloth Praveen and Urimalla Bharath Krishna, all aged between 22 and 27 years and native of Tekulapally village in the district.

Bhadradri Kothagudem Superintendent of Police B Rohit Raju said that Boda Sridhar, who runs a Mee-Seva centre in Tekulapally, was approached by cybercriminals through Telegram app and told him that they would give him a commission if he transferred money to others. Along with him, 12 other youths from Tekulapally mandal opened 60 current accounts with fake documents and were committing cybercrimes by transferring money to other people's bank accounts and receiving commissions.

It has been identified that a total of Rs 8.5 crore transactions have been made in the last six months. As many as 12 cell phones and a bank passbook have been seized from them and a case has been registered. Over 108 complaints have been received against their bank accounts across the country.

Currently, the cyber criminals are trying to steal money from the accounts of innocent people in various ways. Awareness programs are being organized regularly in all police stations across the district to prevent them from falling victim to cyber crimes. Legal action will be taken if anyone is involved in such crimes, directly or indirectly. If anyone loses money due to cyber crime, they can immediately call 1930 and complain, and there is a chance to get the lost money back.
