Bhadradri Kothagudem: Bhadradri Kothagudem MLA and CPI state secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao has written to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, requesting him to rename Bhadrachalam Road railway station as Kothagudem railway station.

He urged the Union Minister to expedite the process and also wrote to the South Central Railway General Manager, seeking the station’s renaming.

In his letter, Sambasiva Rao stated that the railway station is located in the heart of Bhadradri Kothagudem district and that renaming it as Kothagudem railway station would better reflect its geographical location.

He pointed out that Bhadrachalam town is situated at a considerable distance from Kothagudem, making the existing name, ‘Bhadrachalam Road’ (BDCR), potentially misleading.

The MLA said the current name often causes confusion among passengers and others who may assume that Bhadrachalam is located within Kothagudem. He stressed that the railway station’s name should reflect the locality it serves and urged the railway authorities to take immediate action.
