Bendalapadu Set To Be Huts-Free Village
The state government selected Bendalapadu to pilot the Indiramma housing project.
Nalgonda: Bendalapadu village in Chandrugonda mandal is set to become a hut-free village in Telangana with the sanction of 310 Indiramma houses, currently under construction at various stages. Located 77 km from the district headquarters, Kothagudem, the village falls under the Sathupalli Assembly constituency.
Bendalapadu has 445 houses, including 247 huts, with a population of 2,300. A government survey also identified 63 families living in dilapidated houses. Under a pilot project, 310 Indiramma houses were sanctioned for the village. Of these, work on 20 houses has been completed, 50 are at the slab level, 78 at the ventilator level, and 147 at the basement level. Once completed, 247 families currently residing in huts will move into the new houses.

Meanwhile, efforts are underway to make Telakantigudem village in Kanagal mandal of Nalgonda district hut-free as well. The government has sanctioned 107 Indiramma houses there, with construction in progress. The houses are expected to be ready for occupation within 15 to 20 days. Former village president K. Rambabu expressed confidence that Telakantigudem too would soon become a hut-free village.
