Begumpet Gets Modern Railway Station
The Begumpet railway station was redeveloped at a cost of Rs.26.55 crore and will have all modern amenities and facilities.
Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday virtually inaugurated the Begumpet Railway Station, which was redeveloped as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He inaugurated this station along with 103 other redeveloped stations across India.
“The country has named the railway stations being modernised as Amrit Bharat stations. Today, more than 100 of these Amrit Bharat stations are ready. We are completing irrigation projects and linking rivers at the same time,” Modi said, while addressing the gathering from Rajasthan.
This station handles around 100 trains daily, with a footfall of nearly 15,000 rail users. The Begumpet railway station was redeveloped at a cost of Rs.26.55 crore and will have all modern amenities and facilities. The redeveloped station sports a beautiful façade, entrance porch, a 12-metre foot overbridge, lifts and escalators, a circulating area, waiting hall, signage boards, among others.
It highlights the Railways’ emphasis on women’s empowerment, having been declared an All-Women Station, where all day-to-day operations are managed by female staff.
The inaugural ceremony organised at the Begumpet station was attended by Union minister G. Kishan Reddy, state roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Rajya Sabha MP M. Anil Kumar Yadav, along with other prominent leaders and railway officials.
While addressing the local gathering, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said, “I am astonished to see the Begumpet Railway Station. I have been seeing this station since my childhood. After the redevelopment, it looks amazing. Over the past 10 years, there has been a great transformation in the railways. The poor, who are the primary users of trains, are now receiving the best services. I congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
He also requested the acceleration of the MMTS Phase-II extension project up to Yadadri, which will benefit suburban passengers travelling to the Yadadri temple. It is estimated that around one lakh people commute daily on this route. He further requested that Nalgonda Railway Station be developed into an important station.
