Bathukamma Kunta Cheruvu Restoration Nears Completion

Hyderabad: Bathukamma Kunta Cheruvu is undergoing a transformation under the Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA). Pictures from February 2025, before HYDRAA initiated its lake rejuvenation project, show a degraded lake buried under years of encroachment and neglect. In contrast, aerial views captured on July 7, 2025, reveal progress, with restoration work in full swing. HYDRAA’s efforts, which began earlier this year, have focused on clearing encroachments, desilting, and restoring the lake’s natural ecosystem. The agency rediscovered water just four feet below the ground during initial excavations.
