Hyderabad: Amid Covid precautions, the Bathini family will distribute the famous fish prasadam to patients suffering from asthma and respiratory problems on June 8 and 9, coinciding with auspicious Mrugasirakarthe, said Bathini Amarnath Goud, a family member.

The prasadam distribution would commence from 10 am on June 8 at Exhibition Grounds in Nampally here and it would continue till next 24 hours. The fisheries department is taking steps to supply more than 1.25 lakh fingerlings for distributing prasadam.

Following instructions from the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the district administration in coordination with the police are making elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of prasadam distribution. Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar was supervising the arrangements, Goud said at a press conference here on Wednesday.

Goud said the fish prasadam would be prepared on June 7 after performing “Sri Satyanarayana Vratham’ at their residence in Dhoodbowli. He said Covid precautions would be taken during the distribution process as a large number of people from various parts of the country reach Hyderabad to avail fish prasadam.

Goud explained that those suffering from asthma, respiratory problems and frequent coughs would get major relief after availing fish prasadam. Depending upon the severity of the problem, the patients can avail it for the next four or five years to get complete respite from it.

He said separate queues would be maintained for the convenience of patients and added that the Bathini family has been distributing prasadam for the last 190 years. They first distributed it at their residence in Dhoodbowli and later shifted to Exhibition Grounds owing to huge turnout.

On its part, the police department conducted a coordination meeting at Exhibition Grounds to make arrangements for prasadam distribution. The meeting was conducted under the supervision of Shilpa Valli, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central zone. A total of 21 departments from Hyderabad participated in the meeting, along with representatives from the organizing body, NGOs, and the exhibition society.

Department-wise discussions were held regarding the arrangements to be made for the smooth conduct of the event. The meeting also reviewed lapses from the previous year and focused on addressing them effectively.

All departments have been directed to ensure coordinated efforts for the successful completion of the bandobust and smooth distribution of fish prasadam.
