Karimnagar:Union ninister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar has provided Rs 50,000 in financial assistance to Maripalli Amrutha, who took her ailing son to a crematorium after being asked to vacate her rented house.

BJP Rajanna-Sircilla district president Reddaboina Gopi handed over the amount to Amrutha on Saturday. Sanjay Kumar also spoke to district collector Garima Agarwal over the phone and asked her to sanction a double-bedroom house to the woman.

Amrutha, a native of Kistampet in Chandurthy mandal, has been living in a rented house in Vemulawada with her son Rakesh, who has liver-related health problems. Despite visiting several hospitals, his condition did not improve significantly. As his health deteriorated, the house owner asked Amrutha to vacate the premises.

With no alternative, she took Rakesh to the crematorium in Vemulawada on Friday. After a video of the incident went viral on social media, Vemulawada municipal chairman Pulkam Raju and commissioner Lokesh reached the spot and shifted Rakesh to the Sircilla Government Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
