Bandi Bhagirath POCSO Case: Victim Suffering From Fear, Mental Agony

Union Minister Bandi Sanjay's son Bhagirath was booked under the POCSO Act. Soon after the case was registered, protests erupted across Telangana state demanding his immediate arrest. Police also issued notices summoning Bhagirath. Sanjay's son sought two days time.
On Friday, the victim's mother released a letter in which she stated that they belong to middle-class community and that she was releasing the letter seeking justice but not for any publicity or vengeance.

She said that Bhagirath consumed alcohol and pressurized her daughter for physical relation, since which she suffered fear, insult and mental agony. She expressed hope that justice would be delivered in the case. She also said that her family has sufficient evidence regarding the incident, including WhatsApp chats, messages, and other electronic communication. She urged the police to protect the evidence and forward the same to forensic department.
She also mentioned that her daughter's mental health was ruined since January after break-up with Bhagirath. At that time, Bhagirath made several calls to the victim.
During March and April, our family moved the court and then we faced a lot of pressure. There were appeals not to register a police case and also seeking compromise in the case. On April 21, a case was registered against the victim's family alleging blackmail and extortion charges.
She urged the police to provide protection from threats, pressures, and social media targeting. She also said that on April 23, they met Union minister Bandi Sanjay personally but instead of getting an assurance, the family was threatened, she said.
